The Economic Development Council for Central Illinois represents communities and groups that advocate growth and prosperity. Created by the private sector to enhance the business climate of Central Illinois, the EDC is the region’s premiere economic development and business attraction organization. In recent years, the Peoria area has seen tremendous growth and the EDC has helped to manage and nurture that growth for the benefit of all Central Illinois.

We work closely with other business development organizations like the Peoria Area Chamber of Commerce, and have assisted in the formation of industry specific organizations like TransPORT (the Heart of Illinois Regional Port District) and Peoria NEXT, a cooperative aimed at the creation and attraction of technology commercialization ventures.

The cooperation of local, state, and federal agencies along with business leaders has been one of the cornerstones of our regions success. The EDC has helped to transform economic development into a regional effort, bringing all the necessary resources to the table.

The initiatives of the EDC and the growth of the region depend on support from both private and public organizations.
